Kurdish director Hussein Hassan’s film tells the story of Pero, a young Yazidi woman captured and sold by the Islamic State. It had its world premiere as the opening film of the 4th Duhok International Film Festival in September 2016, closed the Busan International Film Festival and won Best Fiction Feature at the Dubai International Film Festival. At its Duhok screening, audience members reacted strongly because the wounds it touches are still open.
