Brother’s Keeper follows a seemingly small problem growing within a remote boarding school’s disciplinary system. Yusuf’s effort to help his friend meets adults’ ways of accepting responsibility or passing it to others. The film makes the children’s perspective and the institution’s workings visible within a shared space.
Watch who can speak, who can decide and when waiting becomes dangerous. The snowbound school also helps frame the narrative’s sense of confinement. The Fall from Heaven appears in the filmmaker selection as another feature through which to extend this viewing.
