Born in Qamishli in Syria, he settled in Switzerland after fleeing and founded Frame Film in Bern in 2012. His work includes Al-Anfal, on the Anfal campaign; The Beekeeper, a portrait of Ibrahim Gezer starting over in Switzerland (Prix de Soleure); The Swallow, about a young woman seeking her roots in Iraqi Kurdistan; and Neighbours, a childhood in 1980s Syria.
