1001 Apples
هەزار و یەک سێو
A documentary following five Kurdish survivors of the Anfal campaign. In 1988 the Anfal killed some 182,000 Kurds; only ten people are known to have escaped the mass graves. One of them, Faraj, returns to Southern Kurdistan, founds a collective of survivors and, with four fellow survivors, hands 1,001 red apples studded with cloves to the families of Anfal victims. The film won Best Documentary at the 2014 Asia Pacific Screen Awards.
